Xn sorts out Bar Code Scanning for Belfast Zoo's Zoovenir Shop

Xn Leisure has developed a simple-to-use, fully integrated bar code scanning module which allows items in retail facilities such as Belfast Zoo's Zoovenir shop to be scanned at the check out and paid for via Xn's Advantage System Point of Sale.

The Belfast Zoovenir Shop: hundreds of items to track

Belfast Zoovenir Shop sells a huge range of animal and nature-inspired goods including:

  • Ethically-sourced soft toys and Fair-Trade products
  • Animal-shaped GM-free and gluten-free chocolate
  • Key rings, bath toys
  • Giant floor puzzles
  • Branded stationery.

The range runs into hundreds of different products, and it needed a scanning and bar code administration module that was really simple to operate. This is especially true of many retail situations where new staff have to hit the shop floor running, and need EPoS systems that are easy to understand.

So how simple is it?

The new module makes the addition of a new stock item even simpler than before. The item is added to the system by an administrator using the back office part of the system. The stock list screen is then opened which displays all stock items for the Zoovenir Shop, and the list can be filtered using the stock type to find a stock item more easily.

Clicking on a stock item will update the right side of the screen with the description, stock code, supplier's name and so on. The user then has simply to add or select the relevant pricing unit from the drop down, enter or scan the required code and click 'add' to complete the transaction.

This new feature further enhances Xn's market leading Advantage Point of Sale system, and it's worth knowing that the Bar Code Module can be added to any existing Advantage system.
