ARCS 2010 – Appreciation, Recognition and Celebration of Sport

Monday 23 August 2010

ARCSSport is an important part of life at Imperial College London.  They now have more people doing more activity, to a higher standard and more often. Sport and physical activity touches the lives of more Imperial people, associated individuals and organisations that it is now an important part of the College landscape.

Imperial's national ranking in competitive student sport has steadily risen over the last decade and they are now able to compete in student sport with the best in the UK in a diverse range of different sports and activities.  High proportions of the student community are enjoying innovative free gym and swim offers and more Imperial staff are enjoying the excellent facilities and services.  Working in partnership with suppliers and sporting bodies in both the UK and around the world to develop the healthy campus philosophy.

So, it was time to step back and appreciate, recognise and celebrate sport, in particular the diversity of the sports on offer and thank some of the many people who have made success possible.  Xn Leisure were proud to be Sponsors at the first Imperial ARCS event, bringing together representatives from students, staff, partner organisations, members, coaches, officials, volunteers, performers and celebrities,  providing an opportunity for recognition and awards for the superstars and the unsung heroes.  The evening was a great success with awards, a sports showcase, drinks reception and light buffet and an exclusive question and answer session with Olympic Gold medallist and TV Celebrity Darren Campbell MBE.

Xn Leisure were pleased to be able to sponsor, The Light Bulb Award - Open to Imperial students or staff.  This award provided an opportunity to reward innovation and drive within Sport Imperial with the successful project potentially given a small grant and the opportunity to work with the Staff Development Office to develop their idea during the new academic year.  As an innovator in Health Club Management Software this was an award close to our corporate Values.
