Workflows (Pathways)

Xn's 'new to market' edict product simplifies the management of regular day to day tasks and complex workflows by presenting a clear and simple list to the user. Behind the scenes, edict monitors the progress of tasks, and automatically escalates where appropriate. The task based approach, using real-time reporting on task completion, and configurable escalation routes should a task not be completed allows a 'managing by exception' approach.

In edict, tasks can be chained together based on defined process rules to create a 'pathway'. Like a workflow, this can be multi-tiered, very comprehensive and complex but still appears to the end user as a series of tasks. The system manages the complexity and the rules, and hides the underlying process from the user.

The steps of a pathway have a powerful and flexible scheduling engine allowing the task to either start immediately after the preceding step or be delayed. A step can be marked as mandatory or optional, allocated to different staff members or teams, and/or associated with a particular client. Edict automatically schedules tasks based on the rules of the pathway. Several steps can be setup to occur when the preceding step is completed, and each one can be configured to be delayed by a different amount.

Some tasks can also effect the timing of the following steps, for example with a booking, if a date is booked in the future then steps can be configured to occur based upon the booking time; prompting for reminders to be sent the day before, the meeting room to be readied an hour before, and cleared an hour after.
